I’ve just returned from my second holiday of the year, this time from beautiful Italy, and I already know that in a couple of weeks I’ll be packing my bags again and heading off to another destination. I was sitting on the beach, enjoying the sun and the sound of the sea, when I spontaneously bought the tickets for my next trip. Why? Because I understood how essential relaxation and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is for me. I need to do my best between holidays, and in order to do that, I need to recharge during these breaks.
Working as a professional companion is demanding, not only physically but also mentally. The constant meetings, traveling, trying to always look perfect and fulfilling clients‘ requests can be exhausting at times. Holidays give me that time and space to get away from it all and recharge. I love the feeling of coming home from vacation with a fresh perspective on the world. The break from routine and being able to do something different than what I’m used to is a must for me.
After a holiday, even the most ordinary and sometimes boring routine activities seem different. Maybe it’s because vacation brings with it a little discomfort. Suddenly we find ourselves in a foreign environment, staying in hotels, albeit luxurious ones, but it never feels like home. We always feel most comfortable at home, but after a while we stop appreciating the comfort that our home provides. That’s why it’s important for me to get out into the world from time to time, to experience new places and people, to remind myself again how precious what we have at home is.
A vacation isn’t just about relaxing on the beach or walking around town, it’s also about stepping out of your comfort zone, exploring new cultures, tastes and customs. This experience always gives me a boost to my work, a motivation to keep going and to improve in everything I do.
I encourage everyone, not only those who work as luxury companions, but also those who have any kind of demanding job, to take regular time to relax and change their surroundings. What seems ordinary to us is often the most precious, and it is on vacation that we realize this most.
